Our Story

How it started

Lone Tael began in Sydney with one simple mission: to find a meaningful, well-crafted gift for a dear friend. When nothing felt quite right, we decided to make it ourselves. What started as a personal project turned into something bigger — a small business rooted in heritage, meaning, craftsmanship, and lasting design.

What we stand for

Lone Tael is about finding beauty in the in-between — where cultural heritage meets contemporary design. Inspired by our Australian-Chinese roots, we weave subtle symbolism and timeless stories into modern, wearable pieces.

Our pieces carry meaning without feeling heavy — something you can wear every day, but still tells a story. They're made to reflect personal style while nodding to the past, mixing tradition with a fresh, understated edge.

Why the Name

The name Lone Tael is a nod to the tael — an ancient Chinese weight once used to measure silver. It symbolises value, history, and craftsmanship. With subtle influences from our Australian-Chinese heritage, we aim to create pieces that are rich in story yet made for everyone, no matter their background or style.

How It’s Made

All of our jewellery is crafted from 100% premium recycled sterling silver by skilled artisans in Bali. We work with people who care about the process as much as we do, ensuring each piece is made with precision, intention, and heart.

What's Next

We’re starting small, but don’t worry — new pieces are always in the works (yes, more zodiac signs are on their way!). We’re committed to growing slowly and intentionally, always staying true to what matters: creating jewellery that feels good to own, wear, and gift.
